Ever been (metaphorically) hit in the face with something that is so obvious it’s embarrassing?
That happened to me today.
I was having a conversation about email marketing for e-commerce, and I was talking about a business that I had been doing some emails for as a favor.
I’ve been doing this for many months now, just sending the occasional email for them when there was a sale or new product released.
The person I was talking to was asking about my expereince with list segmentation, bounce rates, etc.
I mentioned that I hadn’t delved too deep into any of that with this company because it was just a casual favor, and I had to spend my time on other tasks.
Particularly now that I’m doing email marketing as a freelancer.
And I’m looking for clients to build up my business.
And then it hit me…
These people have a good business.
I know I could make it better with some tweaks to their email strategy.
Yet I never even thought to offer my services to them and turn them into a client.
That’s the part about not seeing the forest for the trees.
It’s kinda silly when I think about it.
Even if they’re not interested in moving to a paying situation to increase the level of service, it’s kind of stupid of me not to even ask!
After all, they know, like, and trust me and my work.
Emails we’ve sent have generated a good amount of revenue.
Yet I didn’t even think to ask them…
Until today.
So make sure you’re not missing some solid opportunities like this in your own business.
There’s probably something out there that you just haven’t thought of.
But it’s there!
Let me know what you come up with.
Talk soon,
Mattie
