Nobody cares how much you know…

Say with me, all together now…

Until they know how much you care.

You’ve undoubtedly heard this before.

It’s a cliche, but it’s a cliche for a reason.

But is that what I’m doing here?

Just randomly spouting cliches at you?

No.

This came to mond recently because of an interaction that I had with someone.

I’m going to be intentionally vague to save any potential identification, even though it’s highly unlikely at this point.

Anyhoo…

Let’s see if I can make this a coherent retelling!

There was one member of a group of people who was having some personal struggles.

Jobs lost in the family, money stresses, your typical things that people worry about.

They are annoying, but not terribly serious in the grand scheme of things.

A member of the extended family had recently had a semi-major surgery (hip replacement).

A friend of both parties was letting the first person know that they were thinking about and praying for the person who had the surgery.

Pretty normal right?

Well somehow the first person got offended that people were thinking about/praying for the other person, and not them.

And it really struck me.

The way the universe works.

If the only kind of energy that you are putting out there is selfish, concerned more about yourself than anyone else, then you’re probably not going to get much back in the way of people being concerned with you.

Follow?

Have you ever noticed this dynamic in your own life, or that of your family?

You need to become the type of person who cares for others… Without expecting a 1-for-1 reciprocation.

Those good thoughts that you send out (thoughts become real things, BTW) will come back to you.

But if you elevate yourself above everyone else, don’t be surprised if no one else is anywhere near as concerned with you as you are with yourself.

This works the same in the business and marketing world as it does in your personal life.

No one wants to do business with someone who is just trying to make a sale for the money.

If you can genuinely try to help others, you’ll do much better.

It may take slightly longer, but will be more sustainable.

So take this practice into your personal and business life and see how it serves you.

Create your reality.

Mattie
